- To subscribe or unsubscribe from the general public lists, click on Public Lists and follow the instructions.
- If you are already subscribed to a list and would like to change your subscription
options, please send an email* to listname-request@lists.aisnet.org with one or
more of the command below. Please use the email address that is used for subscription
to send email to change options, and leave the subject line empty (blank).
The software that runs the email lists (also known as Listerv lists) is called Mailman.
You interact with Mailman through the web interface or by sending commands to the
software via email.
For the purposes of this guide, the list that you are addressing will be listname@lists.aisnet.org.
Substitute listname with the actual name of your list. For instance, if
your list is called mylist, you would send your Mailman command emails
to mylist-request@lists.aisnet.org.
To get a list of all the commands available on a particular list, send an email
to listname-request@lists.aisnet.org with the word 'help' in the subject
line of the email. Commands can appear in the subject line of the email (for single
commands), or in the body of the message (for one or more commands.)
Below is a list of all the commands that Mailman understands.
In the description below items contained in []'s are optional. When providing the
item, do not include the []'s around it. Parameters in angle brackets ('<>')
should be replaced without surrounding angle brackets, i.e. <address> would
be substituted with bogus@someemail.com.

In addition to these email commands, there are some extended email addresses associated
with every Mailman list that can be used to join, leave and confirm your subscription
to a list.

This is the address used to send postings to the list.

Sending a message to mylist-join will subscribe you to the list. The subject line
and body of the message are ignored.

Sending a message to mylist-leave will unsubscribe you from the list. The subject
line and body of the message are ignored.

This is the email address to the owner and moderators of the list.

Commands & Examples:
password [oldpassword newpassword]
Retrieve or change your password. With no arguments, this returns your current password.
With arguments <oldpassword> and <newpassword> you can change your
password.
Example: If you would like to retrieve your password for the AISWorld list, send
an email to aisworld-request@lists.aisnet.org with the following in the body:

If you would like to change your password (say from oldpass to newpass) for the
AISWorld list, send an email to aisworld-request@lists.aisnet.org with the following
in the body:
password oldpass newpass

set authenticate yourpassword
To set any of your options, you must include this command first, along with your
membership password.
set digest [on-off]
To receive list mail batched in a daily digest or receive mail immediately when
they are posted.
Example: If you would like to receive list mail batched in a daily digest for the
AISWorld list, send an email to aisworld-request@lists.aisnet.org with the following
in the body:
set authenticate mypassword
set digest on
